The Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Radio Wave Propagation of the Far-Eastern Branch of Russian Academy of Science(IKIR FEB RAS) was organized in 1987 on the basis of complex magneto-ionospheric stations which had been established since early 60-ies. IKIR is located in Paratunka, 26 km to the West from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy.

Main subjects of scientific research:

  • study of the nature of solar-terrestrial relations and monitoring of ionospheric-magnetospheric disturbances;
  • study of geophysical processes during solar, cyclone and seismic activity;
  • study of radio wave propagation;
  • development of radiophysical, acoustic and optical methods of investigation of natural environments;
