Atmosphere Physics Laboratory (APL)

Scientific subjects:
    1. Study of the effect of different disturbances on ionosphere plasma parameter dynamics by the methods of vertical radio-sounding:

      - investigation of variations of Es-spread occurrence frequency and probability of formation of F-spread (turbulization of F2 and ES layers) before seismic events by statistic methods (together with the Institute of Physics of the Earth, RAS);

      - investigation of changes in ionospheric parameters by wavelet-transform methods on the example of critical frequency foF2 to determine possible anomalous effects which could be identified as earthquake prediction indicators in seismically hazardous regions;

      - investigation of large-scale ionospheric disturbances by methods of radiointerferometry for complex researches applying Kamchatka network of navigation satellite receiver system GPS (together with Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, RAS).

    2. Study of geomagnetic activity effect on formation of aerosol layers in the stratosphere.

    3. Construction of the model of electric field pulsations under the influence of aerosol clouds containing radon of lithospheric nature and upward currents as IR-radiation source in the near ground layer of the atmosphere over seismoactive regions (together with the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics and Optics, Department of the Moscow State University).

    4. Study of magnetosphere plasma dynamics on the basis of methods of non-equilibrium thermodynamics.

    5. Development of mathematical models and numerical methods to determine anomalous behavior of ionospheric parameters by satellite («DEMETER») and ground observations (together with the Space Research Institute, RAS).

    6. Construction of statistic model of seismic condition for Kamchatka region; it will allow us to study the mechanisms of formation of probability seismic event depth and energy distribution structure to determine the effect of lithospheric processes at ionospheric and magnetospheric heights.

    7. Modeling of geophysical parameter time series on the basis of mathematic constructions.
